Using latest version, and previous version, I have enabled collision for both my hair emitter and my head object, enabled dynamics for the hair emitter, set stiffness to 0, and the hair fully penetrates the head mesh every time as it falls. What do I need to do to get collision to work?
(edit) I set stiffness to 0 just to quickly test it, but I have tried other values.
Ok I figured it out: You have to set the wig object for cloth instead of collision, and pin it, as well. Pretty noobish of me.
okay so i looked into this and couldn’t find a answer, for future sake could you explain what you did to make the hair collide with objects.
it would be much appreciated.
it’s simple, you just set the hair to cloth in physics tab and enable collision in the cloth settings, then set the object it needs to collide with for collision in physics tab
(edit) also, you have to pin the vertices of your hair emitter so it doesn’t slide around.
thank you.
no problem…there may be additional settings in the modifiers panel.
scratch that last tip, because there’s nothing useful in the modifiers panel, but here’s another tip: in the collision settings for your head object, dial up the ‘outer thickness’ value a little, or the strands will still penetrate the surface of the head mesh somewhat.
I can’t get this to work. Any setting of cloth or anything else seems to me to just affect the emitter object, not the hair particle system.
strange, I just tried to repeat this, and am having the same problem you are having…if I figure out where I went wrong, I’ll let you know.
You can watch this YouTube video it’s for you. That what you need.
