Hair floating around model and in random places when painting onto mesh

When I paint the hair on my model it appears all around the object and in seemingly random distribution near the area I am trying to paint on. The import was an OBJ that I modeled in Cinema 4D. A screenshot of the issue is attached below. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I only painted on the face and cheek of the model, the distribution of hair seems random. When I paint on a sphere or cube the hair goes on as it should.

It’s hard to figure out the problem with images.

The basic solution to the problem is

  1. Initialization of object scale
  2. Face normal direction flip check

Give that a try.
