Hair isn't exporting properly in Alembic format

i’m trying to export this hair system for Unreal Engine 5, but the hair is just not coming out right.

the top image is what it looks like before exporting and the bottom image is what its like exported and reimported back into blender. it also looks like that when i import it into Unreal.

i followed many Blender to Unreal Engine hair tutorials all using the same preferences:

  • Show Emitter disabled
  • Frame Start and End at 1
  • Selected and Visible objects enabled
  • Export Particles disabled

no matter what I select to export, it will always turn into this … tumbleweed thing. i am genuinely boggled as to what is making it export like this.

i figured it out, i had to convert the hair into a mesh then to curves.
