Are you guys able to view this MPG movie of some hair tests: http://www.bigpony.com/blendertests/hairtest.mpg
Pure, unadulterated hotness. Thank you Jahka, for all you have done.
holy smokes! I fully expected to see a face as she turned, as in like, a reference video you were using to study real hair movement. CONGRATS!!! You nailed it. Now spil the beans so I can put a how-to in the wiki.
Jahka’s work with the particles is probably among the best things to ever happen with Blender. Good job showing it off.
Here is the blend. ‘Twernt nothin’ but a little tweaking of the softbody stuff. YMMV. If you need a “step by step” I’ll try to make one over the next couple of days. It’s TRULY nothing more than adding a few particles to a sphere and spinin’ it 'round!
Exactly. That’s the point. It was so basic and simple to set up and it looks so great. THAT’S the sign of a good tool.
Hi
Really nice video. That said, I would like to see the hair collide with another mesh properly. Is that possible? If anyone manages this, please post the .blend as I have had no success with adding a second mesh with deflection.
Thanks
Koba
I did once, but it was only a quick test. I did the spinning sphere thing, then I ran a cube back and forth through it a couple times. It was pretty sweet.
Sweet BlackBoe…
Would you mind rendering it out or posting the .blend? As I said, I had no success myself with it.
Koba
Naw, I lost it ages ago, and it’s incompatible with the current version anyway.
@Koba, you still on that real hair thing, I see. Some problems dont go away, do they. Now you know why they have such fancy camera angles… to hide seams and hair penetrating into shoulders.
Did you ever try the make a shield out of another softbody and enable intersoftbody collision detection? What were your results for that? That was the suggestion give for my leg-through-skirt issue.
@MrUnion: no particles in your blend file, just a brown sphere that spins. Maybe post an update please?
RogerWickes. You need Jahka’s particle patch. XP It’s a completely re-written system, including particle children, soft-bodies, clumping and splitting and frizz and noise and above all, comb and cut tools.
@RogerWickes: Yup, new particle patch applied from 1/25/2007 build. You need that. If it still don’t work, let me know and I’ll repost the file.
thats totally awsome, can you show a wind effect blowing the hair in one direction.
Jester
I’ll see what I can do when I get a bit of time. I have to put the testing on hold for a bit as other things have required my attention.
I wanna see it… but I am at school. I am posting in this so I subscribe so I may see it at home
I can’t wait!
