In work i have fast line and if i choose show 100 page freezes whan few pic is still loading, nunber of pics changes.
Now most bugging feature every single Exploder i have open refuses load allmost any pic. I have close them all and then open again when everything works fine.
heh, I dont know, all my scripts are funky, I’m sure… but I haven’t noticed anything like this.
anyways, I made some big changes under the hood, so you can check if it’s any better now… there is also possibility to change order (ascending, descending) …
I’ve now had a chance to check your revamped pages and I still have the same problem. It’s not the number of images it’s trying to load at once; it’s something in how your page affects IE. I too have to reboot my computer after I try to look at the page.
no problem here, everything load fine (in IE, windows XP)
Now that this is coming near “completle”…maybe you could make something like when you click on the WC subject name…it lead you to another page where you see the 3pic that had more votes in that challenge
what the hell… there is nothing special on the page, no weird scripts or anything… it’s actually VERY simple stuff. I tested it at work, win2000 IE6… works just fine!
the only thing that I can think of is the css style sheet that I still borrow (link) from elysiun.com… maybe I just remove that and make my own finally, heh…
if somebody here can check the sourcecode, please tell me if anything weird going on…
edit:
I double checked the code, ok, there was couple little errors… mainly table related. I managed to make it pass w3.org html validator… so those of you with troubles, try again please…
Since going to the site Basse, (which I think is superb) avatars have stopped being displayed here at elysiun, even now in the message window the gif’s are having problems appearing. This is a broadband connection at work in IE 5.01 on Win NT, so it shouldn’t be an issue.
Whilst at the site I had the same problems with it trying to display 100 images per page. 40 Items to download and stopped at nico’s sewer. Some were there lower down but not the first 12 or so.
While I can appreciate the sentiment, it is – simply put – not an option for some of us. Work computers, etc.
Even with the newest mods to the page, IE still hangs after a little while and nothing short of rebooting the computer will make any image load into IE after that. Sadly, I have no suggestions as to the cause (except for the possibility that IE doesn’t play nice with linked CSS files that someone else posed).
I didn’t have to reboot, just had to log off line then reconnect, that sorted the image loading.
I also am stuck with IE at work. :< I also found that with my current website, making the page open in a set window size causes IE to slow dramatically for some reason. (Prob cos B.G. didn’t write it properly but I’m not pointing fingers. )
hehheh…
well, I managed finally to reproduce that “bug”… I don’t know yet who to blame really. page seems to load just fine (even with all the images on one page) with Mozilla, Mozilla Firebird, Konqueror, IE6, and even Netscape 4.7… the only one that has problems when showing more than 40 pictures on a page is IE5.5…
for testing purposes I turned off thumbnail picture displaying… page loaded. so, looks like, it really is sort of trouble with 5.5 and so many “big” pictures on a screen at once. (not the table structure I was worried about at first)
to fix it however, you can just close IE, and start it again.
but, I will try to see if changing compression levels on thumbs helps or something. for now, all you IE users, upgrade to 6! there are security issues too you know. or… do not load all the pictures at once. 20 or 30 seems to be fine on one page.
if someone has any info on this subject, I will gladly listen!
