halo maps are kaputski

I’m trying to use a halo map of a cloud in the game engine. I create a uv texture, add the cloud texture as alpha onto a plane etc BUT when i select halo and activate the engine, the plane disappears.

I have noticed that when you look at it in wireframe mode, the plane appears to constantly be at rightangles to the camera, rendering it invisible. What’s going on???

Rotate the plane in edit mode so that the normal faces the +y direction.
