Halo Materials - Influencing halo properties using texture.

Maybe I am missing something, but when a material is set to Halo it gives an option in the Texture Data Panel to Influence Halo’s Color, Alpha, Size, Hardness and Add properties.

The tool-tip for the Size property is also wierd : “Amount texture afects ray mirror”. Is it possible to be a bug?
I’ve noticed that when using texture the only properties that are affected by it are Color and Alpha.
How to modify the other properties using texture?
Aside from that - is it possible to control halo’s rotation?
It is not particle related, just using static Halo material. I am using the latest official build for Windows.
