any help would be great.

You can set the blending mode of the needles to “ADD”, this way, they’ll appear semi-transparent. Also, I say you should use higher res texture maps :stuck_out_tongue:

thanks mpan3 for the quick feedback. i need all the help i can get

Halo, Halo, Halo…

It seems like everyone who is new to blender just wants to make a HALO CLONE!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

WHY?!! If you want to play Halo, just go PLAY IT, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

It just seems ridiculous to me to try to CLONE a PROFESSIONAL game which took hundreds of people years to make, and in the end, come up with a half-baked, unoriginal copy of someone else’s intellectual property. %|

Why doesn’t anyone want to make their own stuff, instead of JUST COPYING SOMETHING ELSE!!!

Geez…

I think it’s perfectly normal to clone a game during one’s learning stage. Plus, Halo is a great game

It’s the first time you use the UV texture editor, and you gonna do
a Halo game???
Oh well!

You should use the models and textures from the game. Would look better and save you altot of work.

You can find the program to extract it in www.halomods.com

Brazileiro0: I beleive he is making this so he can LEARN how to UV map and model, not so he can cut-and-paste models… %|

I know but he could learn how to put the model and the texture together and see how it is done and than came up with his own stuf in the future.

Hmmm, are you using a halo 1 texture?

Yes the resolution sucks on it but here are some tips,
the crystals are actually diamond shaped more than square shaped, the model still need some work but overall I think it’s a good first attempt.

Keep it up, and also you can use a mod level editor to extract levels (maybe even models) from the game into blender (textures don’t show up)

EDIT: I also noticed you propibly haven’t used UV calcualtions, if you don’t know…go into the side of your model, select your model, go into face slect mode, and press u from window. It should appear in the inmage editor like your model shape.Try some tutorials

thank you all for your input. i plan on doing all the modeling myself. i am just trying to get a better feel for the side of blender i haven’t used much.

There is nothing wrong with copying the ‘pros’ when your learning. In fact, it’s probably the rare bird that doesn’t do that to some extent when they are learning. Think, about it: what’s a tutorial but a set of step by step instructions where you copy somebody elses work in order to learn new ways of doing things that you can later adapt to your own work.

If your gona make a halo 2 for PC, make yor own stuff (all of it), dont simply do a cheep conversion. and i wouldn’t recomend doing it on your own, its a big undertaking.

i think it rocks, guys. better than i can do, and probably some of you guys could when you were first starting UV mappage. maybe not. but still who cares he just wants some critique not some huge opinion on what he should and shouldnt model.

Yeah Lol and Actually Only about 30-40 peopel got together and made ti there where lots of people that just tested it and tried tto find glitches lol.

I don’t know what I just saw…
