I’m modeling some UFO’s in blender to get some media to go with a screenplay I’m writing. I’ve got a good material for the object, but I’m also trying to give it body lights using halos. But the halos don’t seem to be showing up when I render. I have a ring of verices that’s just outside the mesh of the main objects, with a material set to halo. Normally, when I’ve tried this, I get a ring of halos when I render. But this time…no halos! I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Can anyone help? Thanks.
If you’re using yafray, it doesn’t support halos.
Also in a Blender internal raytraced render, halos don’t work if they are behind an object with alpha transparency.
Btw in future post this kind of question in one of the Support forums, not in News.
Oops, sorry…wrong forum…
Well, let me see. I don’t like the problem is them showing through materials, because the halos are actually on the outside of the object, but close enough to make it look like they’re on it.
Hmm, I’ve never used yafray before. Maybe that’s the problem and I just don’t know it’s activated. How can I tell if I’m using yafray? Is it usually set to default?
I’d post a .blend, but I’ve never done that before and I don’t really know how. Can anyone tell me? Thanks.
In the renderer buttons, you can usually see which renderer has been selected. As far as I know Blender Internal is selected by default, you have to change it to Yafray yourself.
Okay, then…yafray’s definately not the problem because blender internal is selected…Hmm…
Can anyone tell me how to post a .blend, then? I know a thing or two about working with blender, but when it comes to the internet, all I really know how to do is browse google and stuff.
