Handling Animations of linked Collections


I am working on a little animation clip. I have two blend files. In the first one I build my assets which I then link to my main file.

I built a little campfire asset with multiple objects (stones, fire) with a build-up animation and a particle system for the smoke which I baked. Now I want to link the collection multiple times to my main file and want to “spawn” campfires at certain frames in my clip.

How can I control the build-up animation and start-frames of the particle animations of multiple campfires in my main-file? What is the best workflow for handling animations of linked assets? right now the particles and the animations start at frame 1 for all linked campfires which I dont want.
