Hard Surface Retopology

Hey everyone! I’m nearing the end of my first full character sculpt and had a question about the best way to retopologize the hard surface elements of the sculpt. Since my sculpt of the hard surface parts won’t be perfect, doing the usual setup will give me imperfect reflections. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to proceed? Should I just model the pieces as if the sculpt was a reference? Any help is much appreciated.
