Has blender a problem with large meshes? [solved]

Hi,

i have a mesh with 400k faces. In edit mode i selected all faces to fatten the mesh a little bit. But as you can see in the image, blender doesn’t fatten everything like it should. It ignores some areas. I have the same problem when exporting the mesh to a stl file. When i open the mesh in another program the same faces have the wrong normal direction.

Is there a way to get the fattening done?

PS.: in the image it says 900k faces, but for the fattening i only selected 400k.

When i open the mesh in another program the same faces have the wrong normal direction.
So waht are the directions like in blender ?

Have you checked for the usual things such as incorrect mesh, double vertices, wrong normals etc etc.

And your blend file is where ?

The directions of the normals are correct in blender and i have removed double vertices. I really would like to attach the blend file, but i can’t make the file public. It’s a little job. And i have to finish this soon… I don’t know, if blender has this problem with huge face amounts in general.

The part of the object which causes problems is a subdivided cloth plane. I used wire frame function on it and subsurf twice. Thats it.

What could cause this problem?

I opened an old file in which the normals weren’t recalculated. So it was my fault…
