Hi, I am trying to export a model in the Wavefront (.obj) format. So I go File -\> Export -\> Wavefront (.obj) and use the default settings but ask to export Normals as-well.

The vertices’s and normals export just fine but the texture coordinates don’t. The UV’s is selected and I tried exporting Object Groups & Material Groups to see if that is what I had to do. I also tried selecting Copy Images but that got me a python error which I don’t know how to fix.

If someone could please tell me why the texture coordinates are not exporting, that would help me a lot.

Thanks…

Oh by the way the method I am using to apply a texture is the following:

(Add New) under Texture under (Shading) tab
Then I change to the “cube” texture coordinates under (Map Input)
Then I change texture type to image under (texture buttons)

Then I try to export but no texture coordinates show up. Am I missing something?

Just a guess here MasterCory as I’ve not done this with .obj files, but generally the rule is that textures should be packed with the file - that’s the little button that looks like a present. What program are you opening the .obj in ? […just curious]

MasterCory,

If you want to export UVs, you have to create a UV layout.

I am exporting it for my own personal game engine, I am more of a programmer and new to graphic design & blender. Thanks for your suggestions I will try them to see if it fixes my problem.
