I dont know if its the fact that i havent used the program in 6 months, or if its downloading the new version and its changed, but i’m having a lot of difficulites with animation now.
The animation i’m doing is slightly complex, but the hard parts are making the curve into what you want it to be.
So here are the obstacles i’m getting.
When the object is parented to the curve, its extremely difficult to move it to the position i want it to be in. It doesnt seem to be just “grab and drag” It doesnt react how it should, sometimes it will move in exact opposite of where my cursor is going, sometimes it rotates when it shouldnt and i find myself trying to move the cursor everywhere otehr than where i want the object to be and eventually i can find the right combination to get it to its location. This only happens from the “top” view.
I cannot seem to remember how to “tilt” along a path.
Using “Lockedpath” Constraints in Camera looking, because its all i know, its extremely difficult to get the camera to follow the object exactly how i want to. I spent an hour trying to get it to sit still, show the view i want, and still follow the object. I dont ever recall it being this hard in 2.35.
Last obstacle. Suppose i want to rotate my objects in 360’s along my path, is there a way to control this, or should i let my path control its destination and use keyframes to control the rotation?
Ok, number 1 is fixed. Instead of using the cursor, i found it was easier to us the transform properties “N” key. I had forgotten all about it.
number 2 is fixed as well. I knew there was a tilt function, just forgot where to look. Found that.
I’m still having problems with the camera function, but the more i play, the more i figure out. If anyone has any fixes, it would be appreciated.
As for number 4. Is there a more precise way to tilt along a path besides using the cursor. When the Tilt function is envoked, i cant seem to get more than a little less than 200 degrees using the cursor. Is there a way i can enter the number of tilt in a box that i’d like? Like getting my object to do several 360’s in a certain amount points? To be more precise, is it possible to rotate one control point 720 degrees? or will i have to rotate one point 360, and then the next 360?
Snap your 3D cursor to the curve then snap your object to the 3D cursor (Shft-S) The reason the rotations etc are going in opposite directions is because you have your 3D cursor set as the Pivot point and it’s on the wrong side of your mouse cursor (see “Scaling and Rotation Pivot Points” icon on the header).
T in Edit mode (if the 3D button is set on)
Use the Object it’s looking at (or an Empty if it looks at more than one places along the anim) as a target for “TrackTo” constraint.
