Having trouble with shape keys

I’m trying to animate eyelids. All they are are two half spheres rotated to cover the eye. When I go to rotate them they get squished down and it doesn’t look right. But at the end of the shape key it goes back to normal. Anyone have any suggestions?


Shape keys have no reason to interpolate following an arc how you want it to. Bones are better for that kind of deformation since their rotations are really taken into account. Have a look at some free rigs like mancandy for inspiration.
