HD Texture Resolution Question

Hey People!
Quick question.
What sort of texture resolution do proffesional CG movies use?
Or, if i re-phrase the question; What sort of texture resolution should i use if i wanted to make a HD or high-quality movie in Blender?

Thanks to all that answer!

It depends on what you are doing of course. If you want to display a golf ball in hd
1920 x 1080 ? Then you probably need a 4k texture 4,000 x 4,000. IF the ball is full screen. If the ball takes up a smaller portion of the screen, say 300 x 300 you probably need 1200 x 1200. There is no one size fits all. I rarely use image textures myself (I like procedurals, feels more artistic to me :)) but a good rule of thumb is to make the texture (at least) 4 times as big as one side of your final objects screen size.

Disclaimer: I…uh…haven’t exactly whipped up many hollywood productions in my basement either ;).

when you say texture resolution, are you referring to the UV map resolution, or resolution of the rendered frames? if you mean frames, then textured isnt really the word for it.
