HDR Problems...

I am trying to light a scene with an HDR image. It is the St. Petersburg prove which I downloaded from a link found in one of the discussions on this board.

For some reason, it is barely providing any light to the scene. What am I doing wrong? Here’s what I did:

  1. Created a new texture in the world button
  2. Set it as an image and loaded the probe
  3. Checked AngMap on the world settings and under MapTo I have tried both Blend and Hori

Any help would be appreciated. I have posted a picture of my results. It is a reflective glass texture.

First, you are using Yafray? Blender does not support .hdr images atm.

If you are using Yafray, you are sure that you have some GI? I am no expert on Yafray, though. Here is a video tutorial for it that I found very informational: https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43694. It covers HDRI, along with other Yafray features.

Hope this helps.
