hdri images

doesnt hdri stand for High.Dynamic.Range.Image.?

if so, hte wouldn’t the statement “that would look great with an hdri image” be redundant?

True. That exact thought has crossed my mind before as well.

Although sometimes people do correct themselves and say “HDR Image” instead.

Pretty common when people forget that they are using abbreviated words.

Think of how often you hear LASER light or ATM machine.

and my uncle (a radiologist), splits some abbreviations:
MR imaging, CT scan, PE scan, etc.

just for fun.

I think PIN number is one of the more commonly abused acronyms. Also if you say AVI video.

It doesn’t really bother me because some acronyms are used so widly that they are implicitly words in their own right. MPEG is a good example of that.

I prefer saying HDRI to HDR anyway and if ‘image’ slips on the end, nobody seems to mind… except you apparently :P.

Think of how often you hear LASER light or ATM machine.

in fact, i never did… my dad always weas a stickler for correct english. %|
