Head Study

Ok, here’s my first piece of modelling I’m willing to show people (apart from my avatar!)
It’s a simple head study after being inspired by one of the tutorials on youtube which someone linked to.
This took me all day, so pleeezz don’t slag it too hard!

Nice,
Looks a bit like Bill Clinton. Proportions and the general shape is good, imo. I’ve spent months trying to get that right. Looks so simple when one sees it like in your head.

There are a few anatomical problems I’m sure you could easily fix.

  1. The ear is sort of stylistic. I know how hard they are to model, can’t say I ever got one right myself.
  2. The fold going from the eye down around the corner of the mouth, should start by the lower part of the nose.

It was modelled on Bill Clinton lol!
I thought it looked more like Al Gore once I finished it!
I kindov rushed the ear since I wanted to get it ‘finished’, but I’m planning on doing an ear model at some point since I really want to perfect that particular part.

It’s looking quite good. You could check out cheek bones, jaw bone and nostrils. In my opinion those could use more definition.

I agree with the previous comment about the ear. There are a couple of ways to handle the ear. Try blocking it out by thinking it in basic shapes and profiles. Drawing may help in this. You can find some nice tutorials and such at http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Tutorials/Links#Human . Check also http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93651 .

Be sure to check out remake topology tools (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Retopo) as well.

After you have a nice topology going on, give sculpt mode (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/SculptMode) a go.
