Hellgate:London FMVs, Renaissance

I was recently checking out some VFX artist called Daniel Ferreira’s show reel ( www.wonderslime.com ) and I saw some really nice animations with particle effects. It turns out they were from a game called Hellgate:London. I looked on the forum to see if people had posted about it before but I only saw a WIP related to the game.

If you haven’t seen the movies before, check them out here:

By far some of the best cut-scenes I’ve seen.

Also, has anyone seen Renaissance? It’s a completely CG film with a very stylized look - only solid black and solid white used throughout.

It took seven years to make apparently. I didn’t like it at the start but it picked up near the middle. The style takes a while to get used to. What I find most impressive is that it’s all motion captured - even the faces look captured so it looks like you are watching a proper film but with CG characters.

I still wish there were more films like Final Fantasy the Spirits Within. I didn’t like Advent Children much because of the Anime type story.

ok, i know this is a really old topic to dredge back up, but i figured i’d ressurrect this one instead of making a new thread for this…

I just finished watching “Renaissance” and wow… it’s freaking amazing. Check out the trailer at the website: http://www.renaissance-movie.com/

The style is beyond awesome, tho sometimes i think it’s a bit TOO dark, but overall it’s really interesting. It really interested the hell out of me, cause the pseudo-serious project thingy i’m working on is somewhat similar in approach, aside from the fact that i can’t do captured animation and junk. But I think doing something full-blown in this style, or this method, would be totally do-able with Blender, and it would be interesting to see some more people playing with the style and pushing what blender can do like this.

In any case, go find a copy of this now and watch it. It’s super-sweet.
