i just installed 2.44 but when i try to run it it says “MSVC71.dll was not found” then i press ok and it shuts down and i tryed the zip. blender and the installer
update your computer using windows update. i think that its a dll requirement which has been added by Microsoft years ago. i may be wrong though.
it didnt work
It’s the Microsoft Visual C Runtime file. If I were to ask what version of .Net Runtimes you have, would you be able to answer?
(If you don’t understand the question, it’s OK, i just need to know the best way to respond).
On second thoughts, just install the latest .Net framework from HERE.
thx guys but i just search the .dll thing on google then downloaded it and put it in the blender parent folder then it worked
I’ve had the same problem on my system with Windows Vista Home Premium (oddly enough the Vista Ultimate at work did NOT have this issue).
I’ve tried re-installing blender, I’ve tried installing the C++ 2005 redistribution package (which installs successfully but continue to receive the same error); I’ve tried to install the .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable package (which will not install, stating that it is already installed on the system)
I am currently in the process of running the system file checker to verify the integrity of all core dll’s.
Note I also have the MS Visual studio express for C# installed on the system as well and have had no problems with that application.
i have vista home premium as well but did not need to do anything to install 2.44. I feel lucky.
I think I may have discovered why it wasn’t working on my PC at home. The DLL file seems to be associated with programs such as Microsoft Word (or works) and a few other programs as well such as roxio and some other one I’ve not heard of. Because my home installation of Vista was a clean install not an upgrade, and because it did not come with any pre-loaded software (nor have I put much on my system in the way of extras) the file was never needed before. I’m going to have to download it separately once I get home and put it in the blender folder and should have more luck.
