I’m trying to add armatures to my object, but when I do, the object instantly sets itself to an odd rotation and location. I applied Rot and Scale with Ctrl + A, but that didn’t help. Why would it do this?
Was your character mesh previously parented to something? If it is parented to another object, and offset, then when you parent to the armature (ie, change the parent) it will be offset relative to the new parent (the armature), making it move.
Try unparenting the mesh from everything, and then apply the transforms.
