Hey all,
I just recently installed blender on my new computer, and am having a major issue. When i go to save the blend file it gives me an error message, it says " Failed to write blend file. unable to open." Now ive tried several times to rename the save, ive installed python and got that working, but nothing seems to help. Also the text for the buttons in blender is a little fuzzy, and broken up, and so are the edges on my objects, but im sure thats just a simple graphics card problem. Ive been using blender for 3 years now, so if this is a simple solution im going to feel retarded. I tried a search for this problem in the forum, and looked through the common problems and didnt see this, so hopefully this isnt a repost or anything.
P.S. Im using windows vista 32 bit version, and i have a built in graphics card.
It’s probably trying to save the file in a protected location. Attempt to save it to somewhere innocuous, like your desktop. If it doesn’t work there, then there is a deeper issue
you were right, I saved to desktop and it Saved. Then I figured out if I turn off user account controls (My least favorite part of vista) I can Save anywhere
I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Even if it’s annoying, the UAC system is the last rampart against rootkits, virii and buggy or poorly-written software, when good sense and anti-virii have failed!
Plus you’re NOT supposed to save under “Program Files” or such system directories.
Why the hell do so many PC users want to save in strange places!
Heheh… why do so many PC users “want” to use Windows?
