Help i need a very basic texturing tips

Hi … All waht i want is to know how to texture a cube with one or more texture … I looked but i couldn’t find any 2.41 tut … So please can somebody explane it for me ?

So, just add it. What’s your problem exactly? The manual is pretty much up to date, even for 2.41.

Is there a difference between the texture amd the material ?
And take a look what i did :
I opened blender and entered editmode , now there is four vertex selected . I pressed new in link and material and got 2 Mat: 2
Now what ? How can i select the image i want to texture that cube face with ?

One material contains up to 10 textures.

Go to object mode, then go to shading buttons (F5), Material buttons, create new material. There can be a material without textures, as the material also contains information about the base color, diffuse and specular shaders…

Now go to texture bottons (F6), add a texture to the material. You will notice the aforementioned 10 texture slots.

In the material buttons, you will be able to determine whether the texture shall affect color, bump, alpha etc… But you should the documentation for that…

I am not following unfortunatily .
For god sake can somebody make it a pictured tutorial ??? I just want to know how to texture the defult cube with wooden jpg image and see the texture in the 3d window .

You’ll never see the procedural (built-in) textures in the 3D window, only in renders. You can see UV-mapped image textures in the 3D. Try this excellent tutorial on UV mapping:

I really appreciate everybodys help but it is seems that my mind is closed … Please don’t give me links … I am a noob don’t want to model i just want to texture the defult cube nothing more … Can somebody make tutorial for me ?
