I’m trying to install the newest build of Blender on Kubuntu. I downloaded and extracted the 64 bit version from the blender site (also tried from graphicall with the same problem). I tried to click on the executable with no result and then tried going to the blender folder and did ./blender but get this
~/Desktop/blender2.53$ ./blender
bash: ./blender: cannot execute binary file
try;
ldd blender
and the support sub-forums next time.
hmm it says “not a dynamic executable” and is there a way to move the thread or does an admin have to do that?

Oops I figured out the problem. I thought I was using Ubuntu 64 bit but apparently I only downloaded the 32 bit version. Doh!
