HELP ME CHOP A TRAIN IN HALF please :P

Hey guys i’ve got a serious problem - i modelled a train consisting of approximately 1000 separate elements AND I DON’T WANT TO JOIN THEM because lots of them are repeating just in another position so when i get to texturing i won’t have to texture one by one every repeating element.

I modeled half of the train but lots of elements are sticking out.

I want to cut the whole train in half like You can see on the photo - then texture one half and copy it - after that i want to model differences on both sides but these are just several pipes and rods.

I tried adding a boleean difference to one object (the chimney for example) and then ctrl + L to link the modifier to the rest of selected objects - it didn’t work

After all i’d like to avoid boleean because it creates faces on the contact point which i don’t want there.
Cutting everything one by one is not a happy perspective as there is a damn plenty of elements.

Do you have any ideas on what i could do? Maybe an addon would be a solution?

PS. sorry for caps in the thread title

you could use the bisect tool to cut in 1/2 !

how do i do that on multiple objects?

you can make copy or new file
then join all objects and use the bisect tool then you can always re separate

Hmm is there a better way of re separating all these parts better than selecting each verticle? Because i have about 200 moving parts there.

hope you don’t have parent or constraints ect…

but there is an option for separate all independent parts of meshes.
select all verts then P key and SELECT LOOSE PART
