blood style: You could use either Loop Cut (Ctrl-R; more control) or subdivide (WKey; quicker) for that first step. That looks like a nice generic box-modeling tutorial, I’ve never seen it before.
Except for ngons, I think Blender can do everything Ratner shows in the chapter. I learned a lot trying to follow tutorials written for other packages, though I wouldn’t recommend it to a beginning Blender user.
actually. the step i don’t really understand is the step 2 cuz i cannot see well how the cube is after the dividing. if i could see it well i could reproduce it by subdivide or cutting.
i don’t want those tuto cuz i don’t only want to model a human but create something and learn some theoric subject about the human. i just need to know how to do the step 2 and it will be fine. did you read the complet chapter http://cal.jmu.edu/ratner/tutorials/1/ ?

thats all well and good, and I applaud you for it, however, did you read the tutorial I directed you to?
I think that I know what your problem is, and if I’m right then the tutorial I told you about will give you the answers to your questions as they pertain to blender. no you don’t have to follow it through but I suggest you read through it and find out if the answer lies within.
yeah well i will. you know… i still a teenager and i am hungry of learning 3d modelisation and animation . still… i got a long long way to the top of the 3d modeler. what i want to understand is why there is not a uneversal language for all 3d progz (i keep in mind that blender is still updating) and does pay program are better than blender?
to answer your first question, you can “devide” the rectangle using subdevide and then deleting the virtices that you dont want, (meaning the have that you don’t need)
