Hey, is there a way to have another mesh act as a “wall” while I move verts against it? I.E. I use the proportional editor tool, and in edit mode, move a bunch of verts against a shape- as I move them against the shape, the points conform to the shape I’m moving them against.
I’ve tried retopo, and shrink wrap, but in retopo I have to rely on -one- angle, and this makes organic stuff seem ugly, and I’ve tried soft bodies, but I can’t figure out how to save the resulting mesh so I can refine it. Is there any solution? Help!
I’ve tried soft bodies, but I can’t figure out how to save the resulting mesh so I can refine it.
Bake the softbody animation (big BAKE button in the softbody panel). Choose the frame with the mesh shape you like best, then in the Modifiers panel (F9), Apply the softbody. You will end up with an editable mesh “frozen” at that moment in the softbody behavior. This process will remove the softbody modifier, so you might want to work on a duplicate if you need to go back and tweak the softbody settings.
Retopo was pretty much the tool.
When you hit ‘Retopo All’ only the selected vertices will actually be ‘retopoed’.
So you could retopo some, change angle, retopo more and so on.
You can help me in return: what is that shrinkwrap tool that you said?
CD38: SVN doesn’t seem to have the bake button… just “Protect” and “Clear” where it would have been. Any ideas? I don’t mind doing it in non-SVN, just was hoping I could stay in one version of blender. Thanks a bunch!
