Help modeling a character

Hi there! This is the first char I model. Here’s a picture of it: (copy and paste in your browser)

The arms are made out of a subdivided cilinder and are joined to the hands. I tried to bend it’s arms by moving his hands using proportional vertex editing (I’m not sure if that’s the name) to make it move, but the arms usually tend to be deformed and the final result is not good. Do you have any idea of what I can do to animate it? I considered making new arms, do you have any ideas?

Thanks a lot,

More of an animation question. “proportional vertex editing”, not sure if it’s called that too. Umm, are you using armatures?

Well, if you’re new to blender, try this out first.

The blender manual has that famous gingerbread man tutorial. It’ll show you how to use armatures to move parts of the mesh around.

I’ll try to use armatures and see what happens. Did you get a chance to see the picture above? When I posted it, it was working, but now I can’t see it. I’ll try to fix it and post any new results.

Thanks for the help

:o Woah, pretty cool looking. Yup armatures would definitely do the trick for moving his arms. Well, to move anything that’s organic with limbs, legs, arms, etc you should use armatures.

Can you post a wire of the little guy?

The .blend download is somehow not working, probably just some geocities’ issue, but download it if you can
