Hi everyone,
I am looking for assistance in creating/implementing a Character Selection Screen for a 2D/3D Fighting Game.
Here are the core mechanics and requirements I need:
1. Layout & UI Features
A 51-character grid with individual portraits/icons at the bottom.
Top section displaying large renders/portraits of the selected characters: P1 on the left, “VS” in the middle, and P2/CPU on the right.
A top banner/scroll for the menu title.
A bottom control bar displaying navigation and button prompts (ESC to exit, Mouse/D-Pad to move, Enter/Left-Click to select).
2. Game Modes & Controller Logic
P1 vs CPU Mode: > * Player 1 selects their character first using Keyboard/Mouse or Controller 1.
After Player 1 confirms, Player 1 (or the system) selects the CPU’s character.
P1 vs P2 Local Multiplayer Mode:
Dual-input support: Controller 1 controls Player 1’s selection box, and Controller 2 simultaneously controls Player 2’s selection box.
Both players can lock in their choices independently.
(I have attached reference UI mockups to show the desired layout).
If you are interested in helping out or setting up this logic (via Python / Nodes / Game Engine Integration), please let me know your availability and rates/terms.
Thank you!
