Help needed please!!

Need help with placing 2 stripes down the centre of car using cycles node system. I`m having difficulty in UV unwrapping to give me 2 straight lines, it would be so much easier if my vertexes were in line, or is that my problem?

A few pics for you.

File here if needed. http://www.pasteall.org/blend/33612

All this because VickyM72 made it look so easy…damn you Vicky;)

All help appreciated. Thanks

try going to top view, UV projecting from view then your two strips in GIMP or PS and UV Map them on top of your existing map. Just make sure you create your strips with an alpha channel out of PS then use that alpha info for the factor input of your mix node. Should be okay as a quick fix.getAttribute(“cf-hash”))return t[e]}();if(t&&t.previousSibling){var e,r,n,i,c=t.previousSibling,a=c.getAttribute(“data-cfemail”);if(a){for(e="",r=parseInt(a.substr(0,2),16),n=2;a.length-n;n+=2)i=parseInt(a.substr(n,2),16)^r,e+=String.fromCharCode(i);e=document.createTextNode(e),c.parentNode.replaceChild(e,c)}}}catch(u){}}();/* ]]> */"]

if you want something like this then follow along :

first go to top view in edit mode select all and press u for unwrap then choose project from view :

now export uv layout and make strip in photoshop or GIMP (can attach only 3 Image max so i am not attaching this one)

now here is your node setup :

Cheers

Like MattyZ said, “Project from view” was how I did it, you’ll give yourself an unnecessary headache trying to unwrap that. I guess I’d better hurry up and render mine, yours is looking great so far!

Thanks for the help MattyZ, I use Gimp so how do I create an image in an alpha channel. That is exactly the type of stripes Im after artVikas, Ill have a go thanks. Thank you for your comment VickyM72, follow your threads quite often and I must say you are very good.

Thank you very much, feel such an idiot because it was so easy.
Here`s another screenshot.

I did my stripes in Blender, I just rendered out two long planes on a transparent background, and saved it as a PNG file. Thanks for the kind words, by the way!
