Every time I render this tutorial piece all I see is background. I think I found the problem, some of the settings are way off. But, when I try to fix them it won’t let me. I deleted the camera and put in a new one. I reset Blender to factory settings. Still no go.
So here I took a screen shot and circled what I think is causing the issue. I also attached my file on it. Thanks a ton. I really want to know what I did wrong.
Only thing that’s really off is that you messed with the “Aspect Ratio” setting under Render > Dimensions.
That’s not the image aspect ratio, but the pixel aspect ratio and should always be 1.00/1.00 unless you produce images for a very specific device that needs different values.
I was just just selecting the layers below when I tried to render, as it seemed logical to me. Having never worked with layers before though, I had not seen that other window.
As for aspect ratio; in the tutorial he said to select each object, then a shortcut I can’t remember, and choose scale. Should I have not done this?
Finally, when dealing with layers, does it matter which layer the camera is on?
As far as the camera question is concerned, no it doesn’t matter which layer it is on, it will still work. Lights on the other hand also don’t matter what layer they are on, but require the layer to be active in order to show up in the render.
