I was playing around in with the smoke simulator yesterday and was getting really good results -
But then later, and for the last five or so hours of me fruitlessly trying to fix it, all of the sudden all of my renders started looking more like this -
What happend? I even downloaded a file someone had posted of a fire sim. Everything rendered just like the picture they had posted, but after a couple renders it started looking like that second picture there, like the smoke sim was projected out onto the faces of the domain and rendering there.
I downloaded the latest build of blender about an hour ago, and now the smoke won’t render AT ALL. I’m about ready to give up. I’m just hoping that someone on here might know what is happening.

Have you checked the baking process? probably blender is mixing new files with old files?
By the way, Im working in a project which involves a lot of dust and smoke and blender simulator (which gives impressive results) drives me crazy. So I’m working on a method to make my own smoke. It is still a WIP but if you want to check, you are welcome.
Blender clears the cache when you re-bake the simulation, even so I actually manually deleted the cache several times while attempting this just to be sure. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Any more ideas anybody?
