HELP!! Tangent Shading Menu

Hi,

Im taking a tutorial on making hair. I see a tangent button but no menu that says “use tangent shading” that allows me to change the start, end and shape. Im using 2.42a.

Render buttons -> links and pipeline panel -> render pipeline group -> strands.
Press the up and down arrow for the menu.
