Help trying to seamlessly combine different geometry

Okay so here’s the image of what I intend to make

And here’s what I have so far

The obvious problem I’m having is how do I make it flow from one way to another in a SEAMLESS manner. The best I managed was this:

But clearly it isn’t as flawless as it can be… So if there’s a better technique of doing this or if I can achieve the same effect without separating the two parts, please enlighten me!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Couple ideas:
Try sculpting the transition area to smooth it out.

Or - In edit mode, slide the vertices between the rounded and square section to get an average placement. Use gg to slide - slide it close to one section and release, then gg slide it back the other way resulting in an averaged location.

Or - what if you started with the cylinder, then for the section you want square a twisted, first select the vertices representing one side and flattening them (for top one, S Z 0 to scale them flat). Do that for each side. Then when done select the end vertices and rotate - use the proportional fall off to control the twist. (not sure if that all will work, don’t have blender in front of me at the moment).

Thanks for your response!
I used the edge slide with gg method. Some manual work seems to have solved it.

I’d love to try the third option you gave but I can’t quite understand what you mean. That seems like a relatively better solution but what exactly did you mean by

I wasn’t following this. But thanks anyway the edge slide method works, it isn’t as perfect but at least there’s no weird/abrupt shading at first glance.

Oh man how did this video not show up when I was looking for it ugh!
XD
This was perfect, what I needed was @ 4:22 of the video. Thank you so much you guys!

Probably because I’ve just recorded it

Oh wow I just opened it in YouTube and saw the upload date xD You’re awesome, thank you so much!

Your bevels are too sharp and from neck to the twisted metal thickness ratio is off. Once you resolve these two issues, solving the transition issue will be easier.
