My little brother tried to imitate the old man i was making. Well, he tried too much cause he had a lot of polys… and blender slowed down and slowed until it stopped. Then it got badly scrambled. And then my mouse under Windows XP doesn’t work correct; if i double-click a folder, it opens the folders properties. If I try to write something it does not write anything. Also the folder where I kept my program shortcuts gategorized (plus smaller programs)… It size rose endlessly… well I managed to delete the folder.
But now I even can’t use Windows return system. I can’t get back to a point where things worked, because i can’t click nothing but shortcuts and folders.
Luckily, I got Linux also. Unluckily would be if this was taken to a computer store, because i don’t know what’d they think about this Linux installation…
Configure your BIOS to boot from cd, and boot up from your XP installation disc. do a repair install from there. note that you will also have to re-install all of your windows updates after this procedure.I doubt this will work for something like this. but if nothing else will, give it a try.
try starting up in safe mode first. i really doubt that using blender would cause this (unless this is a hardware malfunction).
Well but this didn’t have a cd… it installed itself when we started it… I was thinking of reinstalling too but…
Oh mannenkint…
Well how to i do that?
argh i need someone hold myu hand
well, what type of computer is it? if it is a newer dell (i believe) they put the windows installation disc on a seperate partition (a seperate part of your hard drive), and some how you are able to do a repair install from there.i think.
if not, go to the control panel, and click on the system icon (you will see this icon if you have it set to classical view by clicking “switch to classic view” in the upper left hand corner). confirm that there is a product key under the “registered to” heading. write this down somewhere. (or, if you own a dell, the product key should be listed on the left side of the case on a shiny sticker)
now, you will have to locate a windows XP ISO file using (preferably) a bittorrent application. i use “BitComet”. then you will have to burn the ISO to a cd, pop it in the drive just like the real thing, and it should all work like a charm.
unless you can find a friend who owns an XP install disc.
but this is only for a worst case scenario, where NOTHING else will work.
[mods, please remove this if you see fit]
Hmm… yes, i think that it’s in a separate partition… Once i managed to make Windows reinstall itself(accidnetally of course, i shutted it down back then). Hmmh. It would be nice if i’d remember how i got it to reinstall itself.
I’ll try at the evening, because i don’t have too much time now, its morning here, and i have to go to school soon.
And in the meantime keep them answers and solutions coming!
I would have expected that given what caused the problem. Maybe your virtual memory caches messed up after you used up all your Ram. You can put this down to Windows’ bad memory management. Still, we’ve at least learned that some PCs don’t come with installation discs. :eyebrowlift:
this sounds more like a hardware malfunction as oppposed to any other problems you might find. it could be malware eating up all your virtual memory, or a dead hard drive. if all else fails, keep linux. but overall, i think that windows has a bad sector on your harddrive it’s trying to access, so, to fix this, carefully follow these instructions:
A. go into my computer, right-click onto the icon that your hard drive is (probaly C:\local disk or something like that). once your open properties, click the tab called tools on the top of the properties window. now your should see “defragement” and “scandisk” though i prefer to use a DOS floppy, this works fine. the system should say that it needs to reboot for security. click ok and reboot ONLY if you plan not to use that computer for about 3 hours. once you restart, the computer should do everything it needs to, and then restart again normally. after, do a disk defragment.
don’t know if this will help, but it’s worth a try.
