The best way to save polygons and armature overloading, is to make serveral hand models welding different things and just do mesh replace in the logics when they hold different weapons.
i was thinking more along the lines of moving the amature and the mesh moves with it
If no one can give you a solid answer I’ll write you a nice example, when I get home from work. Basicly you’ll spend a lot of time weight painting and adding much unneeded bones
