Help with collisions

Could anyone help?

for my latest project I’m wondering how it’s possible for an animation character to clap hands, rest hands on hips cross legs etc without limbs passing through each other. Is it possible for one part of the mesh to deform another? and thus lend a further degree of realism. until now I’ve just animated things very carefully and for the main this has worked out great, however every now and then (especially close up) I need to emphasize the solidity of the character and show these subtler deformations.

You may be able to create special close-up shots and localize some softbody collisions (maybe). However, you’ll probably get better results by continuing to animate carefully and for those deformations, either use Shapes/RVK’s or (better, IMO) Hooks to tweak the mesh and deform it as you need.
