Help with maths symbols

Can anyone tell me what the <-- (left arrow) symbol means mathematically here?

A <-- A + B * C

I think it means ‘varies with’ or something along those lines but I’m really not sure.

My maths is a bit rusty but I think it means “maps to” and/or “the new value of A”. Maybe it’s an iterative formular. If you provide the context it will be clearer.

Yah, this should mean “maps to” or “assigned to”. Assignation reads right to left, of course.
