Help with my Logo

Hey all. I was curious to know if anyone would be willing to help me out with my logo I have. I do vector graphics and had sent over a rough sketch to a friend a while back. He started rendering it for me but after sending a jpeg example I was never able to get a hold of him for a finished product lol. Anyhow I suck at 3d and wanted to know if someone could render this logo for me. I do MILSIM with friends from the Marines and Army and I was Navy MP and we wanted this logo to have realism and depth. I do appreciate the help if someone takes on the project and if not no problem.

Our logo is the top one, duh right lol, but we want it to have the realistic depth as the Marine logo does if possible.

what is the name of the logo?

Desert cell

so I took this on…
learning as I go some new things…
the wings look like crap but I um, will most likely redo them.
any crits welcome fellow blender users.
any tips also on the wings would help.

A small suggestion - in your first render and then the one you are doing, you see that the wings are treated as separate feathers. This is not how the Marine logo below is - the wings and eagle are sculpted from one piece of metal, and in 3d they might look better if you create a dense enough mesh and use the sculpt tool to get the feathers and eagle to ‘emerge’ from the mesh. Just an observation.

yeah, I figured.
I am not that well versed in the sculpt tool.
I haven’t quite decided what I am going to do.
I just barely introduced my self to a sculpt too a few days ago…

Okay, then how about this - model your basic geometry as close to the form as possible without getting too deep in detail, then join it as one object and detail in the sculpt mode.

I don’t want to give up on the sculpt mode just yet.
I think you are right about the basic geometry though being modeled either by poly by poly or block model technique.
I have to give it some more thought, although my shaky hands were just sculpting (albeit terribly)

well I did some poly by poly…

update…
my first time using the sculpt technology in Blender or any program.
might sculpt the wings some.
crits welcome…

Looking very good compared to where you were at first!!

I am waiting for a reply from you know who…
anyways the more I look at the render the more I realize that it appears “layered” because the arrows are behind the globe and the eagle looks pasted on the image as well… might move the items to make it appear that they are extruded from the globe…
also thank you for your appreciation, it was a daunting experience to use the sculpt tool on the eagle’s head as my first project with the sculpt technology in Blender but I am glad I did use it.
however it makes the rest of the eagle look somewhat bland IMO…
I might break down and sculpt some more…
thanks again.

IN rendering, you might set a black plane behind the camera to give the metal material something to reflect - like in the existing Marine logo, see where it reflects the dark areas? it gives it that real world feel.

Aah, the last one looks really nice. The threadstarter contacted me and I proposed to start a thread about it, though missed to check it out - but looks really good.

thanks to all for your input.
I am going to fix this up so that the arrows and eagle are not layered.
I looked at the refrence image and duplicated it too closely.
here is a flyby…

on a side note my workstation is down :frowning: I am trying to install this ?BlenderBuntu?..
thanks again for your interest…
and yes I am most likely going to sculpt the feathers on the wings some as they don’t look uniform when compared with the head…

moved the elements into their “proper” positions…
did minor sculpting on the wings.

about 4 minutes rendering via the command line, blender internal…
here is the final I guess…

and an alternate view…
