Help with putting a PNG file onto a model

I have been working on modeling a kitchen and I am working on the stove at the moment. I created a image in Photoshop that I wanted to be overlayed onto my model. I exported it as a PNG file so I could have the alpha channal. When I brought it into blender I used the project from view tool and projected what I wanted to show I got this result.

As you can see there is a ghosting of sort and I can’t figure out what the white stuff is. I have never done a png file before so I don’t know if I am going something wrong or not.

Thanks for any help I get.

In the Texture settings in the Image panel see if selecting the Premultiply tickbox helps

That was it, thanks. What exactly does the premultiply button do?
