Hi, can someone help me with this scene. I’m not sure how to make it look as if light is shining through the window, if you place a light source on the other side of the window it doesn’t shine through, and i am unsure of how to use radiosity or even if radiosity is the correct way to approach this:(. Please help and c&c are welcome
window material enable Ztransp. ok?
I tried the ztransp. and this is the result, but this isn’t what i wanted i wanted the light to shine through and give that radiant sort of look, how would i achieve this?

First, create a Spotlight and align it so it is pointing at the window.
Next, press the material buttons and the “lamp” button.
Enable the button that says “Halo” and play around with the settings until it looks like you want.
If you want it softer, enable Buf. Shadowing instead of Raytracing and increase the “Halo Step” until it looks good.
also b sure to turn the Alpha down on the glass material.
Actually, just make it so the glass material doesn’t cast shadows of any type.
BlackBoe, but he would still use the Halo spotlight to get a “ray” of light, right?
That’s because you have a massive halo, and you probably set clipping wrong. Turn down the halo, and make sure the clipping line encompasses the start and end of your scene.
You’re getting closer! Patience and Practice, my dear young padawan. You need to move the outside spot up and angled down; and make it slightly yellowish, not red, like the sun really is. Also move it further away so it looks more parallel coming in thru the window. Decrease the SpotSi so the cone is narrower. Decrease the halo intensity, and increase the lamp intensity, and you will start getting a spot on the floor. Then post again for the next round…
Huh. Well, hey. With it being set to ‘sphere’ you aren’t going to get any light past the distance cone. Turn off sphere, or increase the radius. Also, I think I found another problem. Turn up the halo steps from zero to something like 4.
