Hi, I have just learned Blender. And I have done a few models and animations. Learned texture paint etc.
I’m just wondering some small things.
Can I make a mesh transparent? Like 0.5?
Can I change the grid? And can I see in which potions mouse is?
Can I change the x/y/z with numbers instead of draging around the mouse when rotating/resizing etc.
Can I easily cut/making holes in meshes?
Can I easily separate objects that I have joined?
Can I snap a object to grid?
Thanks for answers. If you feel like helping me more with simple stuff then just pm me
Very new to blender by self but ill try my best to answer a few of these
There is snaping feature right here there is about 5 options to chose from, belive that snaping grid is called increment but I’m not too sure with that.
There is many ways to cut holes on mesh’s, some people use “boolean” and some others do it manual like my self, for example my topic here http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=206416&p=1769366#post1769366
look for my last post and your see a box with circles that have been extrude’d, if i did not extrude and just selected the faces i could have removed them to cut a nice hole in the mesh.
If you have two objects in one or as i call them “sub objects” then you can separate them.
To separate them select a sub object by selecting a face/edge/vert and then press “CTRL” and “L” then press P and select “selection”.
If you press N for the properties panel then under view is the 3d Cursor Location
Hope this helps I could be wrong being that Im new to blender myself.
Thanks! Really tired so I should check it out tomorrow. I don’t recognize the icons above so I guess I have an older version of blender. Maybe time to update I’ll try it out. Also I did learn like 3 new thing in blender today
Great to hear.
I’m using 2.56a as its very stable, if you using 2.49 or older then things are basicly the same expect your need one of them 2.49 to 2.56 guides and read it backwards if you know what i mean
You can the get the latest blender as a zip file if your running windows and try the newest build with out needing to unstall or install anything.
