Hex tiles, terrains and seamless transition

Ellu, I am working on a project to create modular hexagonal terrain tiles for 3D printing. I have so far had good success with using gaea to create height maps to make the terrain on individual tiles.

Example of some mountains I have made

I am currently stuck right now on creating river and coastal tiles. Specifically how to ensure a seamless transition between different tiles. I want to be able to have the rivers and coastals “ends” on the tiles seamlessly fit into the next tile

I have currently tried to mask 2 ends of a cube, locking the ends on specific locations and then sculpt the cliffs on a coastal tile. And while it sorta works it is very different from the other tiles workflow and requires a lot more hand sculpting.

Any advice/tutorials or tips on how to create tiles with good transition between each other would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome :tada:

For tileing costal features you might want to make “the cost border” on half of the side ?? Then of course you have to match everytime if the cost is on the one or the other side…

Same with rivers… additional a certain width for the river… Of course then the river has to br the same width except for the “beginning” (spring?) and the end (spout ?) with the later also using “costal”…
