Hey guys!

Hey guys! I am dpvtank. Pretty new to blender. I currently use Houdini and am part of the 3dbuzz online course.

3dbuzz is a fantastic site for highend free video training for just such a lot offf stuff. Not to mention that the community is also very helpfull and I am having a great time there with all tha radio shows they do every weekend (last time, they did one with Steven stahlberg, tito belgrave, and pete draper…also from the guys at WETA digital!)

anyways, I also started with Blender, since it looks like a pretty cool program. I also like to follow the Jeff Lew philosophy. He made something really amazing with Animation:Master which was relatively cheap. IF he can do it with such an application, I am sure Blender can also do that.

But then again, it comes down to the artist. Well, Blender looks like a great program. Interface is kinda weird, but then again, thats me since I have used Maya and Houdini in the past (and houdini in the present and future). Well, I hope to also have a great time over here.

Blender certainly is a very promising application. Infact, today, I just bought the Blender Book by Linux Journal Press…very cool stuff

welcome aboard the blender world!

Hey. Hi.

(15 years from now, when we’ve met up and look exactly the same)

Wow. I can’t believe what we looked like back then.

(Now)

Drinks are on the east wing, politics flamewars are on “The West Wing,” strippers of all kinds are at the north part (avert your eyes), and trapdoors are everywhere. Of course, the movie room is located somehow in a 17,576-dimensional cube none of us have figured out a way into yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW: I AM GOD. WORSHIP ME. Okay, don’t. I’m just 13, and it’d be silly for someone with better things to do with his time to worship me.

And remember:

“Fear can be a useful emotion. For example, let’s say you’re an astronaut on the moon, and you fear your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for moon pieces, WHAM! Slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he’s not Dracula, but you just say, ‘Think again, bat man.’”

Or, rather shorter, this helpful philosophy:

“I’d rather be rich than stupid.”

Or this to ask someone out:

“The wind seems to say your name, although with a slight lisp so I can’t hear it if I’m standing next to an air conditioner. You have a face that would make a painter set aside his/her tools, injuring his/her assistant who was staring out the window instead of paying attention. Your lips/eyes/whatever-body-part reminds me of that French/ethnic-group-here model that I desperately want to f*ck.” (Okay, it gets dirtier from there on, so I’ll stop there.)

Hmm… new quotes thread… later, newbie.

PS: I don’t mean to offend you, but “newbie” is kind of offensive. I’m just saying you’re new. And I don’t know much about you, so that’s a generic way of referring to you.

PPS: Remember: “Danm mi spel cheker.”

welcome dpvtank.!
looking forward to seeing your work (both blender and houdini made)

nah
no offence taken cubey guy…

anyways, i just played around with blender tonight…i gotto say, i am pretty amazed by what it could do…the interface is confusing…since other applications dont have the same interface…however, its very cool

Welcome aboard dpvtank!!!

We always need new people around here…

Glad that you’ve joined us…

Don’t worry about the interface…

It is the first impression everyone gets… But once you get more familiar and feel more comfortable with it, you’ll definetely become addicted!!!1

Looking forward to see some work of yours at the W.I.P. and “Finished projects” forums…

If you feel like you need to ask something, don’t hesitate… There’s always someone willing to help around here…

Have fun!!!

Spyros.

Hey dpvtank, we always like getting new members around here who actually get involved with the community. I’m sure you’ll get thehang of Blender real fast because of all the experience you’ve had with 3D before.
A word of advice for you: Learn all the hot keys. You will be very happy then, although you with start trying to press Alt+X alot, even when you aren’t on the computer.

See ya around,
Goo

Just ignore Cube. Apparently he’s someone’s 46 year old uncle sitting around right now getting off to whatever you say.

Eheheh. Don’t mind me either. :stuck_out_tongue:
