Hi, so have this bottle, why does the light around it looks odd… like top and middle cap areas have shade below each o them

Thank you!

They are called fireflies, increasing the samples should get rid of most of them. Denoising also helps but has its drawbacks.

Either turn on Autosmooth for each object, or add supporting edgeloops

Thanks John… I had no idea about that. I couldn’t see why it would need extra edgeloops as it’s a straight-edge all way to the corners/edges, the light made it seem like they were curved, but there were not.

Maybe cause they were originally all curves, which then used the screw and solidify modifiers. I then realized the normals were off so used “flip” - so who knows, perhaps I did something along the way to screw things up… no pun intended! he he

You have told Blender you want the object smooth shaded. It doesn’t differentiate between the stuff you want smooth and everything else. Autosmooth does. Otherwise Blender is looking at surfaces that are kinda at right angles to each other and trying to smooth the shading.

It’s averaging out the Normals (cyan) and ending up inbetween them (blue)

Ahhh… OK, I think I understand what what you mean.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer!
