So, I hit an emitting plane from the camera by unclicking the camera box in the ray visibility section, and it was staying hidden for a while, but now, it’s showing up. I don’t know what’s going on. Any ideas?
Thanks for answering. Well, that took it out, but it totally took it out, so now my scene is dark. I thought the point of just clicking on the camera in the ray visibility section was so that they would still light but not be seen. Doing this just makes them useless.
Huh? What do you mean there’s no camera icon? It says camera. That’s what I have unchecked. It doesn’t do what yours is doing. It works with other lights, but not this one. What’s weird is that I deleted that plane and created a new one in the same place, and unchecked the camera in ray visibility, and it’s showing up just like the last one.
First of all, you didn’t say initially which plane exactly was bothering you. Secondly, the plane that you have Camera ray visibility unchecked for is on third layer (Plane.003), while the one that was just hidden is on the first layer (Plane.004). In your blend you have only layer 1 visible, so it means the Plane.004 is invisible in the viewport and visible in the render. And Plane.003 is not in the frame at all, because layer 3 is not visible. Stupid light, you say? I say inattentive user.
Well, that’s confusing. That “It” which says “Camera” is checkbox then? Because icon is known to be diminished image of something in user interfaces.
Anyhow, guess it’s sorted out by now…
Happy blending!
I figured it’d be clear that it was the plane that was in the camera view of the saved file.

I stuck it on the third layer just because I was experimenting with it, as it was visible on the first layer, so I tried moving it to a new layer, which didn’t work either. I wasn’t inattentive - it just didn’t make a difference.
The STUPID light is visible in the render, regardless of whether it’s on layer 3 or layer 1.
Has anyone who is replying actually been able to make the plane invisible, because no one has actually stated what the real problem is, but people are acting like they know what I did wrong.
The two icons in the outliner say if it’s visible in the viewport and if it’s rendered. Only if it’s rendered, the settings in the “ray visibility” pane come into play. That means, if you want the object to be included with all kinds of ray types but not visible from the camera, only disable the “Camera” checkbox and keep the others checked.
ark44, yes, I may have explained myself poorly. I was indeed able to make the Plane.004 be invisible during render. I only had to disable Camera ray visibility for it (as you did for Plane.003). That’s why I pointed out that the plane you did disable this checkbox for was not actually in the render.
Again, I was trying to point out that the “correct” light in your case was on the wrong (invisible) layer, while the “wrong” light was on the visible layer. That’s it.
