Entry for a challenge on CGBoost with the theme ‘sky ship’. Rendered in Cycles 512 samples + denoising, procedural textures only, decals made with Inkscape. Please pardon the fake/flat clouds background.

Nice! I think this may go better in a slightly darker scene it would help accentuate the emissions you have on the… wings? but nonetheless super awesome work man.
I like it very much.
@Jaiden : Thanks! Well, that’s a good idea, earlier idea was in a sunset/sunrise setting btw but then resorted to daylight scene to match the color theme of the ship. Might try a nighttime render later.
@markholley : Thank you!
nice work !!!
Nice work! If I didn’t know better I would have thought this image was straight out of an anime. But I really like the design.
Haha, thanks! Well, the design is somewhat inspired by airships in Final Fantasy universe, but might still fit in action-themed anime too.
Yeah, it does remind me of Final Fantasy. What I like about the design is it feels like it’s a ship that would belong to the good guys, as it has a sense of purity in its design.
… and then the good guy turns into your three-staged final boss!
It had red-tinted glow with sunset/sunrise setting at first, guess it more suited for the villains maybe, lol.
Other than the perfectly flat cloud plane, I do agree with others that this is a good example of Japanese science-fiction.
There are ways to take it further, maybe something in the distant background or ion trails behind the ships.
Now that you mention the trails, I just noticed that I’ve uploaded the wrong file, oh my!
There should be some faint trails like you see in the clay render, I’ve fixed that now. Thanks for the input!
I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
