High resolution desktop - blender not fitting the screen

First off, sorry if this has been posted already I did a search on resolution and only got through the first page of posts…just seems faster to ask :stuck_out_tongue:

I am running blender 2.44 on ubuntu 7.10 and my desktop is currently at 1800x1440. When I start blender in either windowed or full screen mode for some reason the top part of blender is cut off of the screen as well as the left side. I tried re-installing it (did a complete removal) and still have the problem. I can run it fine through terminal at a lower resolution with blender -p 0 0 1280 1024 and I lowered my desktop to that resolution and it properly fit the screen when run in either mode. So, my question is, is there a way to get blender to open properly at 1800x1440 or will I be stuck running it lower?

I had a three screen width set up and Blender would not work correctly on that either.
