Hillside River-Castle

This is a project I am working on for a University class “blender for begginers”, This is my first big project as I have only been working on blender for a month.

any feedback is greatly appreciated

Good work. I would add clouds to the sky. Make the sky more interesting.

Added Clouds.

use more dynamic lighting and put more detail and sculpting in the surrounding hills, I at first thought that they were trees.

What do you mean by dynamic lighting?

Those are trees on the surrounding hills, but very basic trees. I only have enough computing power to use two trees made with blenders sapling add-on. For the other trees I made simple sphere-ish objects and added a displacement modifier to add more geometry. I am not sure if there is a better way to do this, while creating simple but realistic trees, but any ideas or help is taken.

Here is the scene with and without the low-res trees:

Pretty nice renders. I like the addition of the sky I think it makes them look better.

Thanks for the feedback!

Don’t take anything I’m about to say personal, I’m just pointing out a few things you’ll want to watch out for in the future.

The shapes of the castle look pretty good as far as I can tell. But I have a big issue with the textures.
I don’t think you’ve ever unwrapped a model before right?
The thing is that the textures don’t allign at the cornors. (a good example would be the blue dome roof).
The color of that same roof seems to be a bit too blue too.

Other than that it looks pretty good for a first project, certainly with just 1 month of blender experience.

the bridge is an eyecatcher but if someone passes over it will crack. maybe you can put an arch underneath it. sculpt it and texture it is probably the easiest solution. you did very well for just a month blendering. keep it going…

Wow, much, much better than what I could’ve done at one month with Blender, amazing work!
Maybe you could turn down the lamp glass alpha, and turn up the emit value. There’s one light in between the four windows that I can’t tell where it’s coming from.
Certainly an impressive job though, especially for 1 months experience, nice work!
